About enterprise search integration

Searches by SharePoint users are performed by the enterprise search capabilities built into SharePoint Server. SharePoint Server provides three search solutions:

• SharePoint Server Business Data Catalog. This solution searches its own indexes of document property values (metadata) that it builds from vaults.
• SharePoint Server Federated Search. This solution forwards SharePoint Server search queries to a BlueCielo web service via the BlueCielo Federated Connector.
• Full-text search. This solution indexes the document content in vaults by integrating the BlueCielo Federated Connector into a SharePoint search service.
